Origami

You had no money in your pocket
Still
You wished to gift me something
And you made me paper cranes
Using only your bare hands
Still
I found a crystal case
To keep them in a precious place
Even when we parted ways
Still
I kept those paper cranes
That you made with your two hands
Until she threw it all away
I hadn't even had a say
I wept over those paper cranes
I wept that we have parted ways
Still.

Biography
My name is Dragana Prpić, I'm currently a student at the University of
Belgrade. I've written poems in Serbian and English since I was a child
and recently started experimenting with short stories. My poems are
often very personal, but I always have a need to find that universal
element in my personal feelings which can make my poems relateable
to many people, no matter who they are.
