we deserve dreams
by Linda M. Crate
i won't stand for any of this
don't think i haven't heard the
profoundness of this man's silence
he who calls himself a president
will never be
my president
because he celebrates discord and strife
promotes hate and war propaganda
would send us all to hell in a hand basket
if it served to stroke his ego or make him money,
and i am not going to hate anyone
because of their religion or their race or their sexuality
i will never support bigotry or callousness to anyone
of any class whether they work or they've
been struggling in silence for a long
time becasue we all need someone to lean on;
i never have been so disgusted and so afraid of an administration
until this one came into power—
i do not want their bitter fruits or their lies they try
to masquerade as truths
simply trying to paint the roses red when i know they are white
doesn't make them anything more than painted roses,
and alternative facts are just lies;
i won't support this snake charmer or his vile character
he needs to be held accountable for everything he's done
because i am tired and exhausted of evil
i will never tire of good
will fight with everything i have until this is all vanquished
because we deserve dreams instead of nightmares.
