The COVID-19 Blues in 4:4 Time

Even in the War
The Blitz… a spirit we all found                                        [we all got through]
But even then we could have had
a ‘knees up’ in the underground                                                         [tube].

Then there came Brexit
It seems so long ago now
Now we have this virus
which we have to beat somehow.

I have read and seen some things
of which I am really proud.
proving that human spirt
can never quite be cowed

The Italians singing Opera
on balconies to one and all
Lifting human spirits
To make us all stand tall

and those  brave essential workers
…especially the NHS
It hasn’t really hit them yet
Boris (et al) please remember this when we get through all this mess

As always however
from some we’ve  seen the worse
Facebooks haunting video
of that crying nurse

My Misses misses giving the grand kids
a really great big squeeze
For us that is the greatest loss
Even with the country on its knees

Kevan Taplin:
Failed scholar.
Failed teacher.
Failed poet.
Failed husband.
Failed father.
Failed rugby player.
Failed acoustic guitarist.
Failed novelist.
Failed ‘alternative’ busker @ Banksie’s Dismal world.
Remaining ambition : To turn failure into an art form.
