I saw myself on the telly
a few nights ago—
orchestra broadcast

Close to each other, tuned in,
phrase after phrase,
the way we can’t now

How can I miss the simple process of
the oboe’s A crescendo into
an ocean of tuning?

How can I ache for
simple inversions?

So, tell me, please,
your favorite chord,

Feed me the shimmer
of a non-viral

Australian-born Katrin Talbot’s collection The Blind Lifeguard, was
recently released from Finishing Line Press. She has four other
