wrists
fibre glass

Two poems by Erin Emily Ann Vance
Published August 16, 2015

wrists

anorectic gives birth
to chubby snow white
she counts calories
in prenatal vitamins
places diet yogurt in her daughter’s lunch box
tallies pounds
measuring tape around her child’s wrists
breathe insecure
vogue bedtime
snow white’s thigh gap
the trigonometry of angular cheeks
angles between pelvis and hips
to lose a few pounds
all apples fill you with poison

fibre glass

these days i find candy wrappers
pulled fibre by fibre in my pockets

these days i limit fatigue
to my scheduled calories
my heart is in foster care

once upon a time
my hair was healthier
and i was made of fibre glass
not porcelain

once upon a time
free samples did not lead
to toilet bowl worship

i see my stomach
detached
an organ outside my body
trying not to collapse
