Meditation at Night
At half past three
My dog will bark
He follows me
Into the dark
To shadows of the moon's bright light
We find a place
Where trees give way
To empty space
And here we stay
To listen to the silent night
I think of many loves long past
My dog thinks of his younger days
When he would chase and run so fast
We both are happy in our ways
Because the endless universe
Around us deep and dark and whole
Vibrates and swings with time and space
And penetrates our very soul
Biography
Marina Jarra: I was born in 1944 in Berlin, studied Art and Education
and became eventually a teacher. I married a man from Gambia,
founded a school there and since my retirement 15 years ago, I spend
six months of each year in this country.
