Mercurial

by Micheline Maylor

Another tidal rain falls
buildings liminal between street and sky
the wash of years between us
scrolled and heavy in pocket

the weight of that slips
under the press of your body, on mine
your crowning penis
is a memory of pleasure

I have no way, now
of telling you
the most obvious things.
I hold nothing back.

How I wish this grey would morph into something mythic,
a carrier pigeon perhaps.
