Courtly Love Story

by Selina Clary

I say a prayer to physics
We’ll maintain this positivity
Electric currents sent through
eyes, knees and fingertips
Nothing more than chemistry

It’s all that matters.
A reaction composed of a random and
chaotic assortment of variables
An experiment well worth repeating

Soon we’ll achieve incandescence
The emission of light from a hot body
Glowing with intensity
You’ll see the sparks from across the room
