riots

by Zama Madinana
(Johannesburg, Gauteng Province, South Africa)

riots
in the streets

flames of anger
climbing
the sky

a violent dance
of rubber bullets
stones
& petrol bombs

walls
crumbling
down
in gutted shopping malls

leaders
leaders
leaders
where are you
in these black clouds
of politics
criminality
& poverty
