Farewell to Power

by Joseph Sloan

Everything is an illusion
Make believe and yet we believe it so
Accepting reality is the biggest illusion
Hypnotized, realized, and single file sized
Mass consciousness beckons us to want
Feeling good through possessions instead of conversation
What's next? Over the fence a New Toy
The pretense to silence and no more thoughts, just debt
All the new joys will be old
Piled high in a museum for all to see
We stand on top of bones and dirt
Our ancestors stood upon that same dirt
We will be stood upon too
The more we judge ourselves the more we lose sight of what's precious
Time. Friends. Family
The power of our leaders is fading
Technology is rising moving us past ourselves
Into AI for all of us to see
