Biography
The Magpie Haiku & Tanka Poets are a Calgary based poetry collective
who have been active since 2001. Their main purpose is to write,
publish and promote the Japanese inspired poetry forms known as
haiku (three lines) and tanka (five lines.)  They've published two
anthologies,
A Piece of Eggshell and Weathered Wings.  They also
do public readings, lead poetry workshops and participate in community
literary events such as The Writers Weekend and When Words Collide,
both held annually in Calgary.  The core members, Patricia Benedict,
Lucille Raizada and Joanne Morcom, have accumulated many
individual publishing credits.  For more information about the
collective and their activities, please contact Joanne Morcom at
morcomj@telus.net.
