Darkness falling
Darkness falling
Hide from it
Shadows stretching
Voices rising
Blows, blood, fear
Once upon a time
Sneering mockery
Senseless anger
Erupting fury
Run away, the grass is green
Day, night, day
Trapped
Not trapped, bespelled
There’s a key and a door and wonderful land
Listening so hard
Can’t make a noise
But inside you can
Waiting for it to end
Too loud
Too painful
Shattering, spinning, crashing
Once upon a time they lived happily ever after
There was understanding and love and belonging and hope
Hide, hide away
But you can’t stay hidden forever
Darkness fell long ago
Run
Here
Rain
Twirling sapphires of rain
Blurring, dancing,
a dream made
almost
real, just a little
harder, and I’ll see
there, through the curtain
of silken starlit tears shining
grey on grey with silver
flying between, spinning
elixir of indigo wind, squinting harder
almost, but no
The street shining like mercury
empty and metallic
No one is coming
Biography
Frances Koziar is the author of the teen fantasy The War of the Shard,
nominated for iUniverse's Editor's Choice Award in 2012, and is currently
agent-hunting for her second novel and editing her third. Recently she had
a short story published in Romance Magazine. She is a graduate student in
archaeology at McGill University.
