At Low Tide

At the last pages
Of my book
I sit aside
Watching life
At forty-five
Degree angle
Amused
Confused
Bit bitter
Searching
For meaning
Where once
There was feeling
With waves
Churning dreams
And sand muting
My footsteps
With softness
