A Knight in Shining Shoes

by Anthony D

My modern Don
hurls himself full tilt
at the office-towers
atop a creaky bicycle.

Drunkenly swings a bottle,
bags beneath unruly eyes
are shattered solar panels.
They twitch, crack,
catch the light
and wheel off the glass.
He is aiming for the top floor,
is singing as he totters short,
crashes into the revolving doors,
medically insured.

His suit askew
he boasted a jagged path,
an arrow for markets
as he slips down a crack
into the pale concrete,
bike clattering to a stop -
recyclable bottle splatters.
