thursday morning at shambhala

thursday morning at shambhala

by kirk ramdath

eleven am, the population pulses
this crowd is late to bed, late to rise
even thursday morning, before the beats are broken
the mass not teeming yet
but so religious
soon the salmo river will be full
of beautiful bodies, blazed in sun
assembled in sacred space
for sacred purpose —
to pay homage to music
with utter devotion
there is no lying in dancing
truth is an unbound foot
10,000 sagas converge in the kootenays
communal worship of sound in the trees
motion speaks louder than mouths our beliefs
