Grief, Waiting

The foundering of my hobby-horse heart
or of whatever other vessel that once faced the sun.

I feel the way a ceiling lamp moth does, now,
as dust.

I suffer and I suffer with still so much
sufferance left. Grief feels a lot like waiting.

Stacks of sealed letters returned; but one,
that is sent, one that is palm-heavy, bleeding and beats

at a gallop. A seed of revival, then, much like Queen
Hermione’s return.

Though sixteen years is enough time to learn that I
was the reason for the absence.

I’m C.A. Legault, a recent Literature graduate of Dawson College in
Montreal. I will be attending Mcgill University in the fall of 2020 to
pursue my passion of English Literature, as well as cultural studies
and communications. My writing, without a doubt, is the only way I can
comfortably reveal myself to the world.
