When Someone Calls

by Queen Visha

When someone calls, I answer on the first ring.
When someone texts, I reply right away.

I am easily accessible to the world.
I am at everyone's fingertips.
I am at everyone's mercy.

Waiting to be told yes.
Waiting to be told go.

Waiting for permission to live my life.
Waiting for permission to be free.

Sitting in silence,
Spending time with my thoughts.

My happy place is within –
Where it is quiet, and I am alone.

All I need is one minute:
Of peace,
Of silence.

But my phone rings.
Then I get a text.

Oh, how I want to hit ignore.
Oh, how I want to hit decline.

Oh, how I want to be unreachable.
