Heaven's Gallery

by Ron Larter
(Lowestoft, Suffolk, England)

The soft light of the morning
spreads slowly, quietly;
heaven is spilling its can of golden syrup
over nature's table.

Shadows shortening,
candle treetops glowing,
melting with the music of birds
and the earth's hair-do
parted by an early morning stroller
across the meadow.

Buttercups tip their tops
to a stranger in the field,
wild rabbits dash for cover
calling their young,
flecks of fluttering colours
spray from the grass
while bees call attention
to their busy lives.

Oh, how bright is the day,
how bright is the heart?

A wondrous creation
in the gallery of God's art.
