Poetry and Art News spotlights poetry and art publications and events from around the world.
Poetry and Art News gives writers, artists, publishers, and producers the opportunity to profile their project in a free online arts news magazine that is accessible to the whole world.
Poetry and Art News gives you the opportunity to advocate for your project in your own words.
The simple 2-question interview format gives writers and artists a chance to articulate important themes and connect their work to their geographical milieu. Read Published News for examples.
As a Writer or Artist:
Any kind of upcoming or published, performed, or produced creative work is eligible.
For instance, any poem, short story, novel, play, article, song, painting, photo project, gallery showing, performance, sculpture, film –
any type of creative work is eligible to be featured.
For editors, publishers,
As an Editor, Publisher, Producer, Gallery Owner, Organizer (etc):
If your local media has not covered you, get the ball rolling yourself and submit to Poetry and Art News.
The simple 2-question interview gives you an opportunity to describe important themes of your publications, productions, events, and spaces,
and how they connect to your local community.
Projects Without Previous Media Coverage
Only projects that have not previously received media coverage at the time of submission are eligible
to submit to Poetry and Art News.
It is acceptable for your project to receive any type of coverage after you submit.
This will not affect your Poetry and Art News submission, which will keep its place in the queue and be published as scheduled.
Upcoming Publication and Events
Submitting a Poetry and Art News article for upcoming events such as a book or film launch, performance, or gallery showing is encouraged.
Some effort will be made to publish the article in time for the event, but this may not always be possible.
To give the best chance to publish the article before the event, submit with up to three months advance notice.
Direct Submission Only
Direct submissions only, essentially by a creator about their own work.
Third-party submissions made on behalf of someone else are currently not accepted.
Submission Format: Interview
Complete these five sections. You can include one image. The total length of your responses in sections 2) and 3) should be around 250 to 500 words, combined. Take some time and write meaningful responses demonstrating your passion for your project. Try to reference important themes and your geographical milieu as these provide points of connection to your work. You can modify these interview questions, or write your own, if you want to focus your responses a certain way. Edit your work carefully as your submission will be published verbatim with the barest required editing performed (spelling, etc.).
1) Name and type of project and name of person making the submission.
2) What are some interesting or important aspects of this work, how it came to be, or what it means, that you want people to know?
3) How does your city / region, your natural surroundings, and / or your cultural milieu influence this creative work, and your artistic practice as a whole?
IMPORTANT
4) Provide a web link where readers can read, view, or find out more about the creative work mentioned,
or confirm publication / performance information.
(Even for upcoming work, there must be a web link to a publisher, gallery, or artist website
with contact information so that Poetry and Art News readers will be able to confirm the details indepently.)
5) Provide three to five keywords related to your submission.
Optional (but Recommended): Include one image file.
You must own the copywright to anything you submit. All work must be 100% human-created. Submitting AI-generated work will result in a lifetime ban. No projects using generative AI in any way can be featured on this website.
Submissions are open. Currently there is no set publishing schedule or cutoff dates for submissions. Submissions are kept on file perpetually and will be published in the order received, with exceptions sometimes made for time-sensitive submissions.
Cannot Update Submission After Publication
After publication, no updates are possible except to correct errors.
Copyright remains with the original author. If ever published for sale in print, contributors receive a 20% royalty, shared between contributors. If ever published for sale in electronic form such as a .pdf, the royalty is 50%.
