Equanimity

by Angelica M. Dalinas

The seasons burning away,
Is returning back to May,
Fifteen years have gone by,
Slowly breathing in a sigh.

Resting my hand on the knob,
Rough fingers tremble and throb,
Skin that is calloused and marred,
A heart no longer on guard.

In the first rays of low light,
Clearing away my blurred sight,
Once sterile walls sealed and locked,
Opened the doors that were blocked.
