The Curse of Adulthood

by 818TFL

Fear in the pockets of your consciousness
Leaking the strength of your golden years
Crippled by growth the farther we go
We weren't told the consequences of letting go of pencils
We touched the garment of adulthood and forgot the warmth from childhood
This black satin sometimes leaves us breathless
Unconscious in the land of happiness
Wide awake in the city of obstacles

What age do I turn this year?
What reality will become my new fear?
Shall I crawl again or perhaps sulk with shame?
Shall I crawl away or remain present in this game?

In the 7th hour of innocence,
You should have told us to soak all of that rainbow in

In the 7th hour of innocence,
You should have warned us the darkest blues will come searching

In the 7th hour of innocence,
You should have taught us to embrace and hold tight that yellow.
