Teardrops

by Delphina Yeboah

Each tear drop is a whole, detailed chapter
Of a story ending in sorrow, or a tale of laughter

Imagine going through stress and sleepless nights
Doing your very best to achieve the higher heights
So tired you are on the verge of giving up
But your egoistic spirit tells you, man, keep your head up
Imagine passing through jeers, facing your fears
Releasing and bottling up tears, the motivational cheers
Imagine after all that pain, you are finally successful
You won, you did it, to all those who believed in you, you're grateful
It progresses from shock to denial to smiles to tears
Of joy, after all those minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years

Those days when the pain would not just go away
And it becomes stronger and tougher, each and every day
Close your eyes, hide your face, those tears aren't meant to be seen
They'll call you dramatic, nobody understands your pain within
Everyone is too busy or unavailable to talk to you
So you keep everything inside, the tragedy you are going through
At night, when the pillow becomes your only therapy
Punching it, wetting it with tears, but still never happy
That death, that failure which brought you tears of sorrow
Makes you question yourself whether it's worth it to see tomorrow

Silence is golden, silent tears are pearls
Each tear drop is a story one is yet to tell
