Flash Fiction Takeover is an international network of fiction magazines and the home of the Flash Fiction World Cup.

Submissions are now open for the debut issue, to be published on January 15th, 2026. New issues are published on January 15th, May 15th, and September 15th of every year.
Flash Fiction Takeover is published in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada by Florencia Bay Books. Edited and designed by Kirk Ramdath. Nanaimo is located on the traditional and unceded territory of the Snuneymuxw First Nation of the Coast Salish Peoples.
Flash Fiction Takeover invites all fiction writers in all genres from around the world to submit to the following opportunities. Literary, mystery, science fiction, action, western – whatever your style, submit your work here. Micro fiction, postcard stories, short stories, or very short stories – whatever you call flash fiction, submit them here.
The word limit is 250 words.
Submissions are open all year, divided into three submission periods. Submissions close January 14th, May 14th, and September 14th at midnight, GMT-7, Pacific Daylight Savings Time (Vancouver).
Flash Fiction World Cup
All stories published in Flash Fiction Takeover qualify for the Flash Fiction World Cup.
The most-read stories from across the world published in all Flash Fiction Takeover magazines and contests during the calendar year will be selected to
represent their nations in the Flash Fiction World Cup,
shining an international spotlight on your writing.
One flash fiction, representing one writer and one nation, will become the Flash Fiction World Cup Champion. (More details coming.)
