Worlds Unknown

by Yasmin A.

Sometimes I wish the world would pause –
So I could chase each flicker, every cause –
Read whispered secrets folded in old books,
Trace worn paths no one ever looks.

To know the stories strangers tuck away,
Silent storms that never see the day –
Like who they miss when shadows fall,
Or what ghosts linger in their hall.

I walk through crowds and start to ache,
Each life a path I'll never take.
Each face I pass, a world unknown –
A million stories, not my own.

The guy who laughs too loud in class –
What's buried deep beneath that mask?
The mum who scrolls with tired eyes –
Who cradles secrets beneath her sighs.

I won't live every dream I see,
Or fall and rise so endlessly.
I'll miss the chance to make it right,
Or talk until the morning light.

But maybe that's the sweetest part –
Each person holds a beating heart.
A world inside I'll never see,
As full and real as mine can be.

And isn't it a little strange?
How every life feels out of range –
With hopes they chase and fears they hide,
And dreams they keep locked deep inside.

We're threads that touch but slip away,
Yet still feel close in some small way.
It's bittersweet – a quiet ache –
To know how much our hearts can break.
