the words fell upon the paper a frail assault on my reveries indelible thoughts meet my pools of timidity the same pools that winced at your elegies the same pools that swore to infinity the words that fell on the paper were menacing and pitiless the alignment of our moons shifted dilapidated ruins of tenderness the undeniable love drifted the worst about the words on the paper was not the twisted and mangled prose not the unrelenting language that arose it is the pit that drops in my stomach each word plummeting down a new depth each sentence was true, calamitously true I have nowhere to hide – except from you
