by Rosie Kersley Williamson
My scorn runs deeper than their blessed roots, I will not bear witness to their heavenly descent. I despise their innocence and pure intent, These awful creatures who crowd around me. It is sickening how they live to deceive, I never liked them, and never will. I hate the way their lips brush my eyelids, And murmur lullabies as my chest falls. I hate the gentle arms that cradle my frail body, And the sincerity in their starlit eyes, I hate how they lift me like summer clouds, The way we rise so carefully, I hate how quiet it is, how soft they are, how peaceful I am ... I hate the angels Who took me home
