I am from the posters and mini-figures scattered around my room, isolated in time, echoing memories into the atmosphere.
From the pillows of soft comfort, a bed made from the fabric of clouds, and a blanket of unforgettable fluffiness.
I am from the southern depths of India on the Coromandel coast, from the salty and savory scent of freshly fried meat filling my nose, evoking memories.
I am from the countless times floating in the pool on the steamy days of summer, listening to kids shouting in excitement.
From the cool sensation of pool water on my skin as I jump in the deep end, I am from the hot days, eating ice cream smoother than silk, next to the gentle buzz of the wishing fountains.
I am from the crunch of autumn twigs beneath my feet, calling me to jump into the mountain of fallen leaves.
I am from persevering through tough times like a lion, making its way through the tall grass in a savanna.
I am from the grassy green fields of spray-painted lines and goals on either side, from the black and white pentagon-patterned soccer ball that I kick through the air, listening to the swish as it hits the back of the net.
I am from the dream that someday I will put my math skills to great use, from the hope that I will have the time and ability to take a million pictures as a food photographer.
I am from the various pictures that our family photo album holds, guarding our best memories so that they aren’t forgotten.
I am who I am for all the things that make me the way I am.
