A book stares at me blankly, its spine aching from my weight. Unfinished stories call out my name — hold your breath, I’ll turn the page again. Every bookmark is a heartbeat, pausing, not in vain. I press petals between the pages, to hold the scent of pain. Someday, when I reopen them, I’ll smile — and start again. My story isn’t over — just waiting for the next line, where tears once blurred the ink. I stitch my silence into meaning, and write the parts I feared to think.
