Priestess of Games

by Maria Carbunaru

I get behind the doors of my casino
a sneak peek of the games I play inside.

some are trashy and in some I lie,
in cards I cheat, and cheating never dies
and even though you know that here we're cheating

you come. you play. you lose. you break. you cry

another hand! you ask. to turn things over.
but they left you all alone, the jacks, the queens

and now you've lost your lucky four-leaf clover.
you want to win this game, or so it seems
but honey, why on earth do you keep playing

against yourself, you crazy pair of twins!

it might be misfortune but it's also in your favor
'cuz they were right, the house...

it always wins
