Biography
Maria Carbunaru is a Romanian writer, improvisation theatre practitioner, educator, and cultural anthropologist living in Portugal. She holds an MA in Communication Sciences and a BA in Cultural Anthropology from Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca. Her poems featured in Mnemotope, Visteria, and Poetry Expo 2024, an initiative organized by the European Platform Versopolis. She launched her debut poetry collection, Protected Areas, inside the multidisciplinary exhibition of the same name, co-created with the visual artist Megan Sharkey on the Azorean Archipelago. Her poem, "An Eye for an I," gave the title of a song recorded in collaboration with the Portuguese band Maobe.
