Flash Fiction Takeover Magazine Contest #1 – First Place

The Prisoners and the Priests

	I.
A prison ship transporting convicts was caught in a storm and sank.

Two prisoners fell into the sea and, at the same time, grabbed hold of a plank.

The plank was too small to support two people.

With life and death at stake, neither was willing to give way.
They fought desperately.

In the end, both perished together, sinking into the sea.

	II.
A passenger ship carrying priests on a missionary journey was caught in a storm
and sank.

Two priests fell into the sea and, at the same time, grabbed hold of a plank.

The plank was too small to support two people.

With life and death at stake, both firmly insisted on yielding.
Each swam away from the plank.

In the end, both perished together, sinking into the sea.
