Winged Prayer

Haiku Suite by Guohua Li

In the wake of bombs
Birds flutter out of the smoke
With panic and fear.

In the war-torn strip
Iftar eludes civilians
Under starvation.

On the cattail stalk
A red-winged blackbird calls
For lasting world peace.
