Sweet Bitterness of Musing

by Petra F. Bagnardi

The scene I imagine tastes like the truth–
I can smell the textures,
I recognize the scents,
I can graze the familiarity of our words.
I predict your reaction to the tales I will unravel–
you will laugh,
you will get upset–
we will embrace.
Then you'll find your courage,
and unfurl stories for my soul.
I know by heart the rhythm of our musings.
Imagination requires the entirety of one's being–
it is gut-wrenching.
I envision us breathing ideas in unison,
ever exchanging thoughts.
These are my very own memories–
their shadows play on a white screen,
as I seat alone in soft velvet.
Soon I will have to leave the movie theatre–
and perhaps later you will occupy the same place,
and the light will show you the imprint of our remembrance.
