The Island of Daznah

by Sanusi Majeed
(Ilora, Kwara State, Nigeria)

Hold thy mug,
Test the waters.
What you thought a pond,
Was indeed an ocean.

Sip thy coffee,
Cast your bait.
What you thought a mackerel,
Will capsize your boat.

Wear thy float,
Read the compass.
Scout for harbor,
In the middle, in so deep.

Throw thy hands,
Race the waters.
The wannabe wreck,
Is but a beautiful island.

Raise thy voice,
Hoist your banner.
Preach the gospel,
Of the Island of Daznah
