Love, Too, Becomes a Crab

You began as everything else 
A pair of single-celled organisms 
Naked and perfect on their own 
Made beautiful 
By some kind chemical reaction
Thereafter with, thereafter one
Look at you now, Oh magnificent creature 
Boasting nuclei and claws
A billion acts of kindness later 
Your armour and sideways habit remain
Our most groundbreaking innovation, the
All-consuming omnivore 
Sustained by anything.
