Under 25 Poetry Europe Contest #2 – First Place
by Aurora Nori
For I have been struck, by a whirling, golden dart. In the onyx night, I look up then gaze below, the roots again, hand covering my pulsing heart. Rubies on the everyman stone, crimson wine, knows the woe it sows. Oh, how I feel it in my lungs burgundy, thick, and warm. Thin, sharp spear you hit me with love’s work, it must be. Burning agony, throbbing blow, how it gleams in my sorrow. For a sweetness won’t come, the liquid, unbothered flows. My legs fold, and before we might know the pulsing of the heart stops.
