As Venus fractures,
Carrying the weight of unconditional love,
A fire burns, so brightly,
Fleeting, like the blaze of a hot July.
Time rushes past, I wish I could hold onto,
Cradle those moments, just to relive them with you.
Pemberton, who am I to love you?
Pemberton, I choose you because the man I love lives here.
Pemberton, let me fall back into your arms.
Can I return to you? Can I call you home?
City where I saw my dreams as his,
The city where I first tasted happiness after so long,
Pemberton, listen to me – I have complaints.
I wander sleepless
In memories of your mountains and valleys.
Echoes of your rivers, lakes, and North Arm Farm,
Calling my name.
Pemberton, I am no one –
I have nothing to offer.
Still, I choose you,
Because the man I love made you his home,
Who came like an eclipsed moon,
But his shadow lingers.
Pemberton, let me back,
To rest beneath your stars,
So I can sleep with you,
With your warm, after-work hands,
And rose caper on cheeks,
January's cold breath grazes your cheeks,
Soft as fine linen,
And you sit beside me –
The quiet rhythm of your breath,
My head resting on your heart,
A song I'll never forget.
This place holds us both,
And I hope we'll never go back to Vancouver.
Let me rest here, on your shores,
Where love feels endless,
Where time stands still.
Let me love you, and please don't mind my desperation.
Let me hold you like a lover,
Like a husband.
Let me look into your kind eyes,
Where storms soften into stillness
Let me trace your skin with my lips
In silence, between the mahogany walls.
