Dear Grandma

by Emma Montero Suarez

When I arrived home,
You weren't there.
When I found sadness,
I expected you.

Sadly for me,
That wasn't the case.
Happily for you,
That was the case.

I needed your presence,
But you are never there.
You needed my presence,
But I was never there.
