Untitled 707

by Vladyslava Manuilenko

This murmuring, disturbed morning,
I work the job of a handsome man.

I sit at the table with my papers
That I cannot see.
Their language was created by a man
For inscribing frequencies.

There is too much wailing in a siren
For a single bell to hold.

This job is not easy
For a man without a face.
I am without mouth or ears –
I am used to the silence

Of old age or marine biology.
I am not entirely qualified
To speak. And thus I sit,
Alone with my unquenchable thirst.

I live by the unquestionable wills
Of perfect strangers.
