Parents

by Dana Choi

as a child, you seemed immovable
a titan of immutable will
stone-faced to my infant tantrums
and unrelenting in your rigidity
but two decades have come and gone
and my anger has whittled away at you
carved wrinkles into your skin
plucked hairs from your head
you are silent – is your voice gone, too?
was it also my fault?
would you tell me if it was?
