Young Poets Magazine Contest #1 – First Place
by Vladyslava Manuilenko
Wire fences sailing by – Cruise liners, psychological warfare – Ringing rooms with watchful walls, The new country, a grotto. Digging a hole in the yard – The radio – a droning spy. Most feeling inside lemonade bottles, In the basement for the winter. The centrifugal belly of the car Shaking the passengers with its guffaw. Bleeding stab wounds in the sky Bound by buzzing sutures. Seedlings of the new fad Scattered red-orange on the rocks, And curled, demanding attention – The loudest form of torture. Buzzards begging the spring, The season's tearful humiliation – A harrowingly sharp creation Narrowly touching the brakes. A cool oppression of spirit Fizzing along the pipeline of the home, Eating into the walls like a testimony – A tiny, new-age hornet's nest.
