Africa Poetry Contest #7 – First Place

Africa

Let us unite as one blood
Speak in same tone by different tongues
Wear one blanket together
As we are born from one womb
Let's share love and peace without violence
If we are hungry for war
Let's fight xenophobia
As it kills our beautiful nations
And our unique friendships
Let's polish each other with love
Show ubuntu to each other
As Africa, we are one nation
Let's respect each other to protect our dignity
Culture is – our roots can be different
Let's eat together in one bowl
Drink water in one tap
As all we are born in Africa
The soil of our ancestors

Note: ubuntu, meaning "togetherness" or, "I am because we are."
