Biography
Cheryl L. Daytec-Yañgot is a lawyer, educator, labor diplomat, and poet from the Cordillera Region of the Philippines.
Her work focuses on human rights, labor, the environment, and Indigenous peoples, informed by years as a human rights lawyer,
development worker, educator, and public servant.
She served as Assistant Secretary of Justice and has lectured for over a decade on human rights,
Indigenous law, and legal pluralism. A Fulbright-Hubert Humphrey Fellow at the University of Minnesota,
she writes on law and justice in academic and public forums.
Her poetry explores land, migration, memory, women’s lives, and Indigenous survival.
