And I guess it meant nothing to you – as the gray etches into my brain. Silence slithers in, like sand sifting through an hourglass. Pitfalls of quiet, it multiplies, feeds on my mind, drowns me in melancholy, and leaves me standing, heartbroken. And it happened, and before I swirl you in all my poems, my heart must die one more time. Our touch, our language, your face like a black dog, reaches for me and falls within me. And it may not pass – my words will never reach your shores. Silence, like autumn leaves, will get covered with early October snow. Metaphors will suffocate, and I will eventually lose all my senses, and silence silences.
