Colorado Poetry Contest #1 – First Place
by Josephine Kelly
The Notes of your death literally crashed my brain when I was told It was an Arpeggio of words that barely made sense The Cadence sounded false, so I asked again if it was honest Active addiction is a Da Capo playing over and over We tried a Forte Melody But Pianissimo you demanded until no one nears your Score There is no Grace Note because you pushed us all way There is no musical Refrain as you have Riffed through this life Leaving us to Vamp And you Diminish to the Urn.
