Grave of Light

by Ravi Kumar Karn

I saw myself looking at my scars,
Reminiscing all the brutal wars,
The corpse of hope, the dead shine of stars,
I saw the death of the sun, the collapse of Mars,
Or myself behind my own emotional prison bars.

The day was ending, my soul growing hollow,
I smirked at misery, smiled at sorrow.
Searching for light, some joy to borrow,
Chained to memories, too lost for tomorrow.

In the sky, I saw death dancing,
Laughing at me, eerily glancing.
But it didn't know I was something I'm finding –
My body now a grave, where my soul is hiding.
