A Toast to the Spring

by Toolika Rani

A lavish sprinkling of the yellow and the green
On the sweater of the earth
Leaves her in mirth, that raises in her heart,
To jump and dance, a very strong urge.

Millions of flowers blooming in a bunch
Adorn the bosom of a damsel, staunch
Admirer of beauty, possessor of grace.
Methinks, it is most appropriate to raise

A toast of cheer and a warm embrace
To the resilience with which
She had calmly faced
The coldness of winters,
The snowflake splinters
That cut through her tiny ribs;

She gifts us an inspiring glimpse
Into her funnel of strength
The tranquil waters held beneath,
upon the melting of the snow
Is the secret of her glow.
