Ohio Poetry Contest #1 – First Place

A box is a an empty enclosure
Man made to sanctify
benevolence
Not an asylum; but a fortress that encompasses the poignancy of my psyche.
As if to assimilate a safe haven
Justified to protect my ingenuous — being from the eroding certitude
of life
Forged with veracity
Yet branded a debility
Sealed from light creating
ignorance in the concept
of darkness
An Impervious life to evade a corrupted existence.
Crafted without a figment — possibility of intrusion
Denying the quintessence of a
dignitary existence
Unaware of the indoctrinated — notion
That my fragile disposition is also
man made.
