Miscarried Messages

by Nicole Chingosha

Two lonely wanderers of the night
with sore eyes sought for sight
Passing where the ocean meets the sky
counting down as days go by
Opalescent eyes and dimly lit smiles
where hazy candlelight evenings beguile

Under fading lullabies
the moon lets out its cries
In the warmth of forgotten memories
raindrops tell their stories
When there's silence between heartbeats
the wind carries secrets
In the midst of a faltering pretence
love blooms in silence
When street lights flicker with gossip
horns sound for the sailing of our ship

Lost in the echoes of time
shadows dance under the moonlight's chime
Under a sky painted with stars
dreams become woven into memoirs
In the arms of gentle agony
the embrace of wonder on your balcony
When the night whispers your name
the melody of a distant past remains

Through the lens of a fading photograph
the forgiven pains, are turnt laughs
Cold fingers on leather tied with a string
inside a box with a tiny sterling silver ring
In the warmth of morning dew
when tragedy began something new
