Young Poets 12 and Under Contest #1 – First Place

Voice of the Pack

by Sophia Bai

Across the tundra we fly,
swift shadows over snow,
our howls cutting through the night –
a song of freedom, fierce and wild.
At dawn we hunt,
minds sharp,
fangs flashing like steel,
each step measured,
each strike precise.
The sun climbs high,
but we wait,
gathering power in stillness,
our pack a circle of strength,
bound by trust.
When dusk returns,
we rise as one,
a storm of paws and teeth,
deadly, unstoppable,
swift as the wind that drives us.
And under the moon's cold light,
we lift our voices together –
a single cry,
a single heart,
howling for what was lost,
and for all that still runs free.
